To the surprise of some, x-box Kinect has been exceeding expectations in the United States. Major US retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop have said that they have no more units left in stock. Microsoft projections were to sell “from three to five million units” by Christmas. Developer Ubisoft has also said that Microsoft “isn’t making enough units to satisfy demand.”
The head of X-Box for UK and Ireland, Neil Thompson thinks that Kinect will be a great success. In an interview with MCV he said: “In terms of allocation I can’t meet the demand every single retailer has of me for day one. But I do think we have what I would call a healthy launch volume for week one.”
With the successful launch in the US, Microsoft is hoping that it can produce the same results when Kinect is released in the UK on the 10th of November.
