By Farrukh Anwar | October 3rd, 2012Apigy began taking pre-orders for their key less smartphone enabled door locks dubbed ‘Lockitron’. Equipped with Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and NFC you can unlock your door by walking to it or you could use an app on your smartphone to do it for you, the app is available on android and iOS however if you don’t own a smartphone you can simply send a text to unlock the door.
Thanks to the pressure sensors, Lockitron will notify you if someone knocks on the door, it will send you a message on your phone notifying you of the event. Not only this, you can unlock/lock the doors even if you are thousands of miles away, so letting or renting your place becomes less of a hassle. The lockitron began as Y combinatory project in 2009, but since then it has become more accessible. On previous version, users had to fully replace the deadbolts, but now you can slip it under the existing lock.
You can access you lockitron account through internet app as well, just in case if you misplace your phone. Security is top priority and it notifies you on every event, even if someone opens the door with a key. Check out lockitrons official video:
