Japan to bring the World’s first 3D printing photo booth

By | November 12th, 2012

Why does Japan have all the cool stuff? We have all heard of 3D printer’s right? The ones who are being criticized around the world for the dangers and risks it poses. Although the doubts are valid, I mean imagine someone making a working pistol in their basement with just a printer, but there ought to be something else we could do with it. Well, Japan has thought of it and is going to make photo booths that will use this 3D printing technology and instead of taking a series of photos, it will create a miniature 3d model of you.

Isn’t that the coolest idea? Off course the printing will cost you a lot, how much? Well, here are the prices revealed which vary according to the size and dimensions of the model.

  • Small (Max. 10cm, 20g), US$264
  • Medium (Max. 15cm, 50g), US$403
  • Large (Max. 20cm, 200g), US$528

I for one would still go for it. There is a catch though, for a perfect model and for the camera to capture all the angles in three dimensions, the person would have to stay still for 15 minutes straight. It will give you back pains, but it is a small price to pay for probably the coolest thing in the world. Omote 3D will start offering this service every day from November 24th and will continue to do so till January 13th. If you are interested, you might want to register on OMOTE’s website for advance bookings, and if the prices seem a little steep to you, then the company will offer family packages and special discounts for couples. Before you go for a 3D snap, you can customize your hair color, eye color and even the color of the dress you are wearing.
