ASUS Adds USB 3.0 to Eee PC and Eee Box
By Jawad Masood | March 26th, 2010Asus has announced the addition of USB 3.0 technology to its numerous devices and motherboards including Eee PC and Eee Box. USB 3.0 offers up to 10 times more speed than its predecessor USB 2.0. According to Asus, adding USB 3.0 to motherboards was not just enough, they had to add the technology to netbooks, all-in-one PCs and even digital media players.
Jerry Shen, the CEO of Asus said:
We are the first in the world to introduce USB 3.0 through our notebooks, namely the multimedia N Series. We’re also the first to win USB-IF certification, achieved on our P6X58D premium motherboard. We believe that USB 3.0 has a pivotal role to play in delivering the ultimate experience to a new generation of multimedia-savvy users. With USB 3.0, everyone can enjoy fast data backup and ultra-speedy file sharing.
The spotlight devices from ASUS that have USB 3.0 support are Eee PC 1018/1015/1016, Eee Box 1510U/1210U and all N series notebooks. Besides this there are 15 more motherboard from ASUS having USB 3.0 technology, complete list can be seen here.
