By | November 12th, 2012

Are you an ultrabook user? Like the Mac Book Air, or the Samsung series 9 over even perhaps Google Chrome book? Are you missing the features like having a CD ROM or extended memory? Perhaps a  SD card slot is what you are craving for. Well, there is a perfect single solution to all those issues. Velocity micro has announced a portable peripheral device to tag along with your notebook; the device carries all the extended controls that you miss. Without further to do, let’s take an in depth look at the VMultra Drive.

Like any external hard drive, you just need a single USB 3.0/2.0 port to hook it up and get it running. There is an onboard memory of 500GB and you can replace that by placing your own in the bay, of course you’ll have t open it up to replace it, but that can’t be hard can it? The spec sheet keeps on extending; you will also get the much missed feature of a CD-ROM with the VMultra, which will be just enough to watch those DVD sets laying around your house.

Continuing on, the ultra-portable combo drive will also give you 3 addition USB ports and an SD card slot. Here are the specifications listed on VMultra’s website:

  • Receives full power from the USB ports, perfect for netbook users
  • 8x DVD±R/RW Burner and Reader — install software and more with ease
  • 2x USB 3.0
  • 1x USB 2.0
  • Reads SD/SDHC/MMC memory cards
  • SATA III hard drive bay fits 2.5″ hard drives for extra storage (500GB HDD included)
  • All Plug and Play via USB connection
  • Trademarked Velocity Micro quality, a premier name in boutique PCs

Inside the box, you will get the drive, two extended cables for connectivity, an adapter and a user guide to get you started with the drive. Note that you don’t really need to install or do anything to get the device running, just plug it in and use it away. The combo drive will cost a reasonable $199.99 and it will start shipping November 12th.
