Enable Multitouch in Google Nexus One
By Jawad Masood | January 22nd, 2010I think Google deliberately disabled multitouch in Nexus One. The multitouch is fully supported by Nexus One hardware and the Android OS. Maybe it’s all part of the plan to let developers do the trick. All those who have N1 by now must be missing the iPhone multitouch feel in it. But we all knew that one day someone will come out with a solution to so called jailbreak the multitouch of Nexus One. Gladly that day has come already; the XDA-developers have released an addon for Nexus One that enables multitouch for the web browser. But we expect to have a multitouch throughout the phone soon.
For installing this addon on you Nexus One you need to follow the following steps carefully:
Step 1:
Root your nexus one!
Step 2:
Download all three required files from this link.
Step 3:
Add these files to your device by running the following commands: If you don’t know what this is then see How to Install Apps using ADB
adb shell stop adb remount adb shell rm /system/app/Browser.odex adb push Browser.apk /system/app adb push com.cyanogenmod.android.jar /system/framework adb push com.cyanogenmod.android.xml /system/etc/permissions adb shell reboot
Step 4:
Reboot the Phone and run the browser, you’ll be able to multitouch on it.
If you encounter any problem, fell free to ask in comment. See the multitouch enabled on the web browser in nexus one in the video below:
