The Best Netbooks of 2012
By Farrukh Anwar | September 3rd, 2012We love the Netbooks, reason being that they are cheap, easy to carry, highly portable – have long lasting batteries and are very useful. It all depends what kind of user you are, if you are a gamers, would like to write articles, would want to get a little technical then you are better off with a PC or a full laptop. But, if you watch movies, do random writing read books and browse the internet a lot and would like to stay away from the socket then netbooks are your way to go.
Throughout; we have kept you updated with the gadgets that are best for you. Either be best UDB flash drives, best portable hard disks, best budget laptops, best games or even best tablet – but netbook department was missing. So we are going to fill that void with our top 5 selection of best netbooks for 2012. Here are our recommended netbooks.
ASUS EE PC 1016P
ASUS has always managed to make a place on our lists, wither be tablets, laptops and even USB’s, the story is no different with the EE PC, the feature packed netbook is the best in the market with excellent reliability and durability. The display resolution of 1280p is top notch and a good sized keyboard also compliments overall features of the device. For you money you will get following features.

Technical Specifications
Processor Intel Atom N455 1.6 Ghz
Memory 1GB
Hard Disk 250GB
Battery Life 13Hrs
Price $450
The battery life is amazing, the 13 hour mark is quite remarkable, but it lacks in the processor department – considering netbooks are now boasting dual core processors.
ASUS EE PC 1215N
Another ASUS in the list, No! we are not biased towards ASUS, the fact is that their products are reputed to have better quality than that of HP’s notebooks/netbooks and dell. The ASUS 1215 in is better than 1016p considering it has better hardware; the screen is gorgeous with a resolution of 1366 x 766 and sporting a 12.1” screen. The overall description is tempting, put it is a little less portable then the 1016p which pushes it to near laptop configuration with netbook specification (we hope you understand what we mean). Without further delay, let’s have a look at its specifications.

Technical Specifications
Processor Intel Atom D525 1.8 GHz Dual core
Memory 2GB
Hard Disk 250GB
Battery Life 7Hrs
Price $600
While the 1215N excels in every other function it lacks to produce juice in the battery department. We do recommend this netbook over the other, but only if you can afford to lose 6 hours of battery life for extra memory and better processing speeds.
Acer Aspire One
Next in line is the Acer aspire one is the next in lineup, the powerhouse can deliver good speeds and have nice specifications, the aspire one boasts a nice and crisp display with resolution on 1366 x 766 and a 11.6” screen. This fact pushes it in front of the ASUS as we feel that it is the optimum size for a netbook, not too big, not too small. Continuing on – we still find good features, it comes shipped with windows7 home premium and good amount of memory on board. The netbook loses points for being heavier, but at the same time gains a few for having excellent features.
Technical Specifications
Processor Intel Atom D60 1 GHz Dual core
Memory 4GB
Hard Disk 500GB
Battery Life 7Hrs
Price $320
So the highlighted features are the best we have seen so far, although the processor is a little underpowered as compared to the ASUS, but that extra boost from the RAM gives it an edge. The 500GB hard disk attached is also an added plus, and the price tag of $320 makes it a reliable option as well.
HP MINI 5103
Finally an HP on our list, HP has done a lot of work in the netbook department, and have always tried to bring us the best gadgets around, however they always lacked the spark that we often get from other gadgets, and had always been overpriced. First looks suggests that HP is going to be light and very portable, this indeed is true – but the single core processor is not really recommended any more. Let’s take a look at its specifications to judge it deeply.

Technical Specifications
Processor Intel Atom N455 1.6 Ghz
Memory 2GB
Hard Disk 250GB
Battery Life 10.5Hrs
Price $500
So, the price tag remains high, but it does deliver good specifications and an top a healthy battery life. While we can still recommend it – but we would prefer ASUS or Aspire One over the mini for better value for money.
Lenovo ThinkPad X120e
Honestly, the list wouldn’t be quite complete without the inclusion of a Lenovo device, we fill that void with Lenovo ThinkPad X120e. the Addition of a video card makes the Lenovo a one of a kind in the netbook department. Not many (I can’t remember one) notebooks usually have a graphic card, this however changes the story. The rest of the specifications are almost what we have seen in other netbooks, let’s have a deeper look at the technical specifications.

Technical Specifications
Processor AMD A-240 1.5Ghz, Video card
Memory 2GB
Hard Disk 320GB
Battery Life 7.5Hrs
Price $700
The price tag is a whopper, 700 dollars. But we have to consider the built quality and the addition of video card. If you have the money and don’t want a full sized laptop these are our top recommendation for you, share your views and suggest what would you prefer if you were to buy a netbook.
