$250 PC for Windows 7, and a $25 one for Ubuntu

Earlier I gave a $250 configuration that can really fly Windows 7. But have you wonder why nobody ever ask or bother what hardware do I need to install Linux? People just put the CD and install it. Well you’ll get the answer once you see the hardware requirements that it needs 😀 Now they also have a lighter version known as Netbook Remix, but we’ll just see the requirements that a desktop version of latest Ubuntu 9.04 needs:
Bare Minimum requirements:
- 300 MHz x86 processor
- 64 MB of system memory (RAM)
- At least 4 GB of disk space (for full installation and swap space)
- VGA graphics card capable of 640×480 resolution
- CD-ROM drive or network card
Recommended minimum requirements:
- 700 MHz x86 processor
- 384 MB of system memory (RAM)
- 8 GB of disk space
- Graphics card capable of 1024×768 resolution
- Sound card
- A network or Internet connection
That’s it, if you have these recommended minimum requirements, no need to upgrade to core 2 due or any core 😛 just install latest Ubuntu version and enjoy the life around. If you have that PC i’m sure its worth is now only $25, if you don’t and insist on buying a $25 PC, go to used computers market, and ask for the cheapest and the oldest PC they’ve got and you’ll be all set 🙂
